Carmen Tiampo is an editor and a writer living on the traditional homelands of the Numu (Northern Paiute), Wašiw (Washoe), Newe (Western Shoshone), Nuwu (Southern Paiute) peoples.

Before starting La Florecita, she was the assistant editor, editorial and production, at UBC Press, a scholarly publishing house based at the University of British Columbia. While there, she sat on the Press’s accessibility committee, where she spearheaded the audiobook program and developed and composed the workflows and guidelines for alt-text. She also sat on the Equity, Justice, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee at the Association of University Presses, where she was part of the team that developed the Diversity and Inclusion Baseline Survey for Publishing Partners Toolkit.

She holds a master’s degree in publishing from Simon Fraser University and a bachelor’s degree in creative writing and anthropology from the University of British Columbia.
